We do not require a large time-commitment for any of these committees. Whether you simply want to provide feedback and ideas, or you want to lead an event, any level of participation is welcome.
5th Grade Graduation
Works with the administration, as well as 5th Grade teachers and parents to organize events aimed at raising money for the 5th Grade graduation/activities.

After School
Works with the Riverdale Y (Kids Space) and the administration to provide a fuller spectrum of class and activity offerings for PS 24 children after school.
Book Fair
Hosts two book fairs during the school year coinciding with parent/teacher conferences dates, sets up/breaks down the book displays in the gymnasium, coordinates teacher “wish lists” and runs the book fair for the afternoon and evening hours.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
P.S. 24 is one of the most diverse schools in our district. We believe that it important that the activities and curriculum within the school reflect the experiences of everyone in our community. Coordinates all (non-ticketed) PS 24 fundraisers including but not limited to School Supplies, Candy Sale(s), Winter Fair, Valentine’s Day Sale, Spiritwear, & Spring Auction. Develops new fundraising ideas.

Coordinates all major events for the PS24 Community including but not limited to our annual fall event Boo Bash and Springfest in June.

Gardening
Parents help maintain the PS 24 garden in coordination with teachers and Administration. The committee is working to develop relationships with community organizations involved with public gardens and composting projects.

Publications and Communications
Is responsible for publication of Sounding Board news magazine and the Yearbook and works to promote our school on social media (Facebook, Twitter) and newspapers in a positive way

Safety
Works with the administration and parents to promote the safest possible environment in and around our school. The PA School Safety Representative is a member of the School Safety Team and attends monthly meetings.

Special Education
Works with the administration, the Special Ed teachers, and parents to serve the needs of families with children enrolled in Special Ed at PS24.

Wellness
To encourage the P.S. 24 to strive toward a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being through supporting families, students, faculty, and staff through various initiatives. By encouraging a holistic approach to wellness we seek to provide avenues of support for students, faculty, staff, and families to be healthier, feel better, and, by extension, be better equipped to be ready for each day.
